Growing up in South Florida, we had a huge avocado tree right in our backyard. I remember my father proudly bringing in the ripened avocados that had fallen to the ground, commenting on their large size. He immediately proceeded to place a couple of them on the kitchen counter by the sink, then reached for a knife to slice open the one in his hand. I recall being totally unimpressed. Occasionally, I would appease him by eating a sliver, as I was equally unimpressed with its flavor, or lack thereof. THAT, however, was a long time ago, and I have since developed a great appreciation for the Avocado. Although the ones available today cannot compare in size to the ones from the tree in my backyard, the taste has become far more palpable to my adult taste buds.
But this blog is not about the size or taste of a raw Avocado. It is about something far more beneficial for women who take their skin care seriously. While there are many health benefits to eating Avocados, I’m going to discuss the benefits of avocado oil for skin. First of all, Avocado Oil (derived from the Avocado), is very rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E. Antioxidants protect our skin from the unhealthy elements in the atmosphere, while Vitamin E is known to be highly effective in battling the aging process. Avocado Oil contains Omega-3, which is known to aid in protecting skin from UV Rays; decreasing likelihood of sunburn while preventing age spots; thereby, reducing the risk of skin cancer. As a skin care plus, Avocado Oil is ideal for dry, dehydrated and damaged skin by increasing its elasticity while rejuvenating the skin. It’s moisturizing effects penetrate to the deep layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production, and ultimately reducing fine lines and wrinkles. YAY!
As an additional point of interest, benefits of avocado oil for skin include treating skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and itchy, irritated skin.
I use Avocado Oil in the following skin care products: Anti-aging Facial Serum for Normal Skin, Anti-aging Facial Serum for Dry Skin, 1-Step Facial Scrub, Essential Oil Body Mist, and Lavender Eye Serum.
